Since being off work this week (I managed to injure myself at work) I have watched quite a lot of films. These two are ones I saw at the cinema; I highly recommended you watch both of them.
Inception; a definite must see. This not only proves Nolan's superb directing skills; in particular his storytelling but proves that he can undoubtably do anything. A word of warning though, you must concentrate fully to everything happening on the screen otherwise you might get lost in the film's seemingly complicated plot. This is not a film you can pop to the toilet during. The one thing I enjoyed most during this film was the cast. They gelled together quite nicely led by the wonderful Leonardo Dicaprio, one of my favorite actors ever. It also had Nolan regulars Michael Caine and Cillian Murphy; who I assume couldn't refuse another outing the former apparently quite content with only being in a couple of scenes. This is what a summer blockbuster should be; intense, spectacular looking with a terrific script that will challenge you, not make you wish you hadn't bothered. *****
Toy Story 3; I, along with many others have been waiting for this film for quite a long time. I am happy to say however, it has been well worth the wait. It is every bit as brilliant, charming and hilarious as the previous films, keeping true to the feel and the characters which are that very heart of the story. They have also managed to successfully introduce new characters including Ken, voiced quite fantastically by Michael Keaton and my personal favorite Mr Pricklepants voiced by the marvelous Timothy Dalton (the only flaw in this film in my eyes is that he is not in it enough). The film did however give me a feeling which I thought I would never happen, a sense of the unknown. I can usually tell where a film is going, and trust that the protagonist will make it through whatever danger they are in. There is a moment in Toy Story 3 (in the film's last few minutes) where I was completely flabbergasted. I had no idea where it was going to next and it scared the absolute hell out of me. I won't say how it ended; as that would spoil the film and I hate it when people do that. *****
